I think you can only vote from Jan 1st but all the details are up on the site now. It's a shame really - I want all the final candidates in this category to win! They're all makng excellent music and it's a pity they're up against each other.

Does anyone know if this is the first time Chebiji has been nominated for a BBC World Music Award, or if he was ever nominated during the release of the Shri Durga - Maya Maya - Krishna Lila trilogy?

I really would love to see him win the Club Global category. I'm sure Mercan Dede has been previously nominated and possibly Shantel as well. And as much as I'm into M.I.A, I think La Kahena is an amazing work that merits the artist an award.

Well, I voted! Don't forget to go and vote. It's worth doing because the winners get lots of press coverage and airplay etc.

Have had a look back through previous nominees lists and can't see CiS. Couldn't find first awards list from 2002, though. Mercan Dede has been nominated before.

Indeed. I think the Club Global category has only been in place for the past two years, and Mercan Dede was nominated in that category last year (for which I believe Clotaire K won?)

Anyways, did anyone notice Mercan is listed in the musician credits of La Kahena?

I think it's great that the Club Global category came about and that Chebiji is nominated in it this year. He's also getting some attention in the UK these days from the track Rupa Tujhe Deva off the Krishna Lila album by way of Bandish Projekt getting airplay on the BBC.
